Instead, many men are using harsh soaps on their skin, resulting in dry skin and premature wrinkles. Men should be using a gentle cleanser that removes oil and dirt without drying out the skin.

2. Use a decent razor, one that works on your skin

A cheap razor will do if you can put up with ingrown hairs or a bad shave. If not, invest in a good-quality razor that is ideal for your beard coarseness and the sensitivity of your skin. Also, a razor with multiple blades may look impressive, but this type tends to lead to ingrown hairs and razor burns.

To achieve a smoother shave, it’s a good idea to use a moisturizing shaving gel. Such a gel acts as a barrier when you shave. Additionally, experts suggest that men should shave in the shower or take a shower directly after shaving. Besides making less of a mess at the basin, you will have a cleaner shave

3. Use an alcohol-free aftershave

Remember, a sharp blade has just stripped hair and skin off your face, leaving your skin exposed. An alcohol-free aftershave soothes and hydrates the skin.

4. Use a moisturizer

Irrespective of whether you shave or retain some facial hair, moisturizing the face makes the difference between coarse and dry skin and skin that feels smooth and touchable. Many skin-care products are geared for men, meaning that you are not limited to products for females. There are products on the market, such as fragrance-free facial moisturizers for men.

5. Be careful of the sun: use a sunscreen

We all know about the dangers of the sun, yet many men still choose to expose their skin to the sun, which leads to premature aging and, in some cases, to skin cancer. Be sun smart and use a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or even higher. Do remember to reapply if you sweat a lot in the heat.
